Choosing a Honeymoon Destination

For many people, choosing a honeymoon destination is a chore as difficult as setting the date. Your honeymoon will be the first trip that you and your spouse take as man and wife. It will set the stage for all future vacations and moments together. Thus, it is important that you select a destination that is desirable for both of you.

Whether you are traveling to a touristy city, beach or mountaintop, keep in mind that your destination should be fun and relaxing. You have just been through months of planning and anticipation. For most couples, the last thing you will want to do is spend time planning a vacation on top of it all.

For the very reason of pure relaxation, many newly weds choose to travel to the beach or to a ski resort for their honeymoons. The beach especially offers an opportunity to get away from the stress and spend hours a day laying in the day next to your beloved. You can read books, snorkel and dedicate time to being together - just the two of you.

If you and your spouse are more inclined to travel during your honeymoon, then consider taking a trip to Europe. Map out places to stay and see prior to your departure so that you will not have to spend valuable vacation time figuring out where the hot spots are.

Once you have a few set destinations planned, let your vacation be flexible. Having flexible plans allows you to spend time being together without the stress of having a schedule. What's more: you may stumble upon fun that you had not anticipated.

If you are on somewhat of a budget, then you might want your honeymoon to be close to home. Consider taking a road trip to a bed and breakfast in a nearby town. Spend a weekend or spend a week, but take plenty of reading materials, games and walking shoes. You will enjoy spending quiet time alone with your new hubby without the stress of having things to see and do.

You can also spend time hiking, camping or taking long walks through the town where you are staying. Above all: remember that your honeymoon is all about you and your husband and the time you can share together. Be sure that no matter where your destination takes you, you have fun and dedicate the majority of your free time to spending moments together.
