Creative Invitations - Personal Story
When planning my wedding, it was important for me to have creative wedding invitations that would set the stage for a fantastic event with me and my hubby. I looked around the wedding shops in my town and read through some magazines for ideas about great ways to invite people.
Most magazines have articles about traditional wedding invitations - the paper kind that come in envelopes. They talk all about the differences in the types of paper and what all should could in the wedding invitation. For my wedding, though, I wanted to go with something different.
Luckily, because I was using my parents' back yard for both the wedding and the reception, money was not much of an option when it came to the invitations. With a fairly sizeable budget, I was able to do more than many other brides I know.
After a bunch of research, I finally decided that my wedding invitations would be champagne classes engraved with our wedding dates and our names. I ordered two hundred glasses at under a dollar each. I then purchased boxes and packaging from the local packaging store.
I placed a glass in each package. If there were more than one guests coming from one household, I purchased a larger box for the glasses. I then padded them nicely and included a magnet with the wedding date and our picture on it. I also included an envelope and card that people could mail to let me know that they would be attending the wedding.
When the packages were shipped, they got to be rather expensive. Again, I had to remind myself that I was not paying for the space, so this cost would be okay. I started getting phone calls from my guests right away. People absolutely loved having champagne glasses shipped to them.
Only a few of the glasses broke in transit. Because I ordered extras, I was able to ship another off to those guests that could not receive a nice glass. They did, however, receive the magnet, so they at least new what the glass was announcing.
I recommend inviting people with creative invitations to anyone because it makes your guests feel pampered and like you don't just want them to come to your wedding - but that you truly have a desire to take care of them.
Now, every time I go over to my friends' houses, I see our magnet on their fridge. And I know that every time they use the champagne glasses, they are reminded of our close friendship and love.
