3 Ways to Make Your Reception Unforgettable

In addition to the actual wedding ceremony, most brides put an equal amount of sweat and hard work into preparing their wedding reception. You have thought about catering, photography, decorations and transportation. The only thing left to consider is that extra touch that will make your wedding reception unforgettable. Here are some ideas that will help you get there.

1. The memories are in the details. It is important that when you plan the decorations, you include detailed items, such as personalized place settings. Have some wine glasses custom engraved with the names of each of your guests. Place the glasses in an arrangement on the table that the guests will be able to read easily. Then, place an additional place card or thank you note into each wine glass.

Your guests will feel flattered that you have gone through the trouble of printing items with their names on them. They will also be appreciative that you have created an item that they can use as a lasting keepsake to commemorate your wedding.

2. Make the food special. Many caterers offer the traditional buffet or sit-down style catering. However, you can easily add a flair that will set your wedding reception apart from those of many of your friends and family. Instead of having ice cream in a simple vat, for example, make an ice cream stand and have several large vats lined up on a bench with toppings and plenty of scoops. Considering renting a cotton candy machine to create fluffy balls or cotton candy or rent a professional popcorn popper.

By making sure that you have something less traditional on your catering menu, you will ensure that your wedding reception will be one that your friends and family will set apart for years to come. Use your creativity to come up with any treat imaginable, then go for it!

3. Take photos. Most people agree that the best way to preserve memories is to capture them in photos. Throw several disposable cameras on each table and request that your guests feel free to spend their evenings snapping photos. Have your guests write their names on the camera and order doubles for them. A month after the wedding, ship the photos to your friends and family. They will not only appreciate receiving the photos (for free), but it will ensure that you get plenty of images of your special day captured.
