3 Ways to Decorate on a Budget
When you are planning your wedding, it is amazing how quickly your bills can pile up. You have to consider the cost of flowers, catering, event space rental and so much more that you may not have previously thought about.
No matter what your budget is, it is important that you make your wedding day memorable. Here are some cash saving tips that can help you make your day special, without sending you into a marital debt.
1. Create your own flower arrangements. It can be truly astounding how expensive flowers are. While all weddings are generally known to have flowers as part of the decorations, not all weddings have professional flower arrangements. Spend some time shopping in your florist shops for flower arrangements that you like in particular.
Find photos of arrangements as well. Together with your bridal party, create the arrangements on your own. By purchasing and arranging your flowers on your own, you will find that you can save literally hundreds to thousands of dollars that would otherwise be spent on one-day decorations. Why not save that money or spend it on something that will be more long lasting?
2. Hire a DJ or call a friend. Many people have the belief that they need to hire a full band to play at their wedding receptions. This, while nice, might only be a luxury for those people with expanding pockets. If you are on a budget, then there is no disgrace in hiring a professional DJ or even a good friend to set up the music for your event.
Technology is so advanced these days, that you can literally select all of the music for your wedding months in advance, queue it up in your music player and turn the speakers up. This way, the only cost you spend on music for your reception is redeemable for years to come. Make sure that you either have high-quality speakers or are able to rent some (for a low cost) if you are going at it on your own.
3. Have a potluck reception. Potluck receptions were a popular method of saving cash in the 1980's. However, with the advent of higher event prices, many people have decided to involve their friends with the planning by selecting to have a potluck wedding. Call a bunch of close friends and family members and simply ask them to bring a dish that will serve 20. This way, your guests can sample a variety of dishes and you will not have to worry about paying it all off!
